Get The Most Out Of Your PowerPoint Presentations

According to some of Microsoft’s figures, there are approximately 400 million PowerPoint users around the world and about half of them could probably fall into the regular presenter category. Amazing isn’t it?

It made me wonder why so many people are using it. But then, remembering how quickly my 11 year old son put together a small presentation in PowerPoint gave me my answer: it’s EASY!

Give anybody with basic computer knowledge about 30 minutes, and they will have put together something that looks somewhat like a presentation. But then, as a productive business manager, what type of results are you expecting from your presentations?

More and more companies rely on presentations to train their teams, sell their products to customers, and convince executives they need more budgets. They want their presentations to generate more revenues but see their design as a regular expense.

Furthermore, they expect an already very busy team member to put together an efficient presentation in a very short period of time (and still do their regular job…). Is this the most efficient and cost effective way to get your presentations done? Unless your company has somebody dedicated to presentation design, this method might be costing you a whole lot more than you think.

Outsourcing your presentation needs to a presentation professional could help you get the most out of your presentations.

  1. You save on overtime…because your team is able to finish regular tasks.
  2. You save money on design time because the presentation professional is very efficient with the software.
  3. Your presentation focuses on a clear message that will help you sell and convince more efficiently (better ROI).
  4. You will be able to engage your audience with an interactive presentation so they remember you.

Whether you decide to do your presentations internally or outsource them, make sure you follow these tips to get a great presentation that makes you message stand out from your competitors.

Don’t think you can do a presentation half a day before your due date. Take time to analyse what will be the message.

  1. Who will be your audience? What level of detail are they expecting?
  2. Make sure you take time to illustrate your content instead of filling slides with text.
  3. If your audience is expecting a handout, invest a little more time and produce just that “a handout”!
  4. Don’t expect your audience to remember you if your slides reflect word for word what you are saying.
  5. Think about structure…it could save you a lot of time and big money on future presentations! Presentations should be reusable, not “show and throw”.

Finally, the best presentation in the world won’t convince anyone if the presenter does not know their subject matter. Memorable presentations combine great visuals and well prepared presenters!
